I was recently asked by Rizwan Rufail (from Class of 2013) to offer recommendations to new students. Below is what I could think of:
Settling in Cambridge
Last but not least:
Settling in Cambridge
- Register with Zipcar. Zipcar offers hourly car rental services. Its key advantages are all-inclusive rates (e.g., including parking and fuel).
- Don't fall into T-mobile trap. Its coverage is really bad. Go for Verizon.
- For furniture, electronics, etc. visit the Peabody Terrace to benefit from supplies left by the outgoing students.
- Market Basket (supermarket in Sommerville) and Target (in Watertown) are offering the most value for student money.
- All courses are great. However, choice of particular course would depend on your interests and desired area of specialization. Overall, make sure that you benefit from cross-registration opportunities at HBS, HLS, MIT etc. My favorite Professors are Hausmann and Heifetz at HKS; Porter and Jordan Siegel; and Rodrigo Verdi at MIT
- Center for Public Leadership
- If married then your choice MUST BE Peabody Terrace
- Morse school is the best one (www.cpsd.us/mor/)
- No issues at all. Totally safe.
Last but not least:
- Make sure that you register at HUMAN for Global Development and our LinkedIn Group
- I would appreciate support from Class of 2013 in maintaining this blog and encouraging other students to visit it
