Hello! As the new year approaches, let us make our forecast of what will our planet Earth will look like in 2007 from the Midcareers perspective.
I suggest that eveyone posts a brief comment (1-2 sentences for each topic) on the following topics:

ii) My region in 2007;
iii) USA in 2007;
iv) The World in 2007;
v) My wish for 2007.
Since it is a very short-term forecasting, very soon we will have a chance to compare our forecast with reality.

Azerbaijan: the current Govt will succeed in marginalizing the opposition. The economy, driven by major oil revenues, will strengthen even further, but dive deeper into the dangerous waters of "Dutch disease".
ii) My region in 2007:
Caucasus: regional conflicts will not change their status-quo. All three countries will strive to ally major powers on their side. Azerbaijan and Georgia will start benefiting from the start of oil export through the BTC oil pipeline.
iii) USA in 2007:
Bush will continue loosing his political power and credibility, thus diminishing the chances of Rep candidate winning the 2008 elections.
iv) The World in 2007:
China and India will continue dominating the news headlines as rising global powers and main destinations for FDIs. However, it is highly unlikely that any major change takes place in the global geo-strategical map in 2007.
v) My wish for 2007:
In order to be realistic, I wish that no major terrorist act takes place and no war is waged in 2007.
