CENTRAL ASIA AND CAUCASUS SEMINAR- Mr. Aghazadeh on Azerbaijan, Dec. 12Iqbal Aghazadeh is the Chairman of Azerbaijan's Umid Party and holds that party's sole parliamentary seat and one of the few seats occupied by representatives of opposition parties following the election of Nov. 6, 2005. That election was followed by short-lived Orange Revolution-style demonstrations, which were broken up by force.
He held an earlier term in parliament, but lost his seat when he was imprisoned on charges of organizing a mass riot.
He is also prepared to discuss issues of conflict in the South Caucasus region and Azerbaijan's relations with Iran.
