83rd Anniversary of Turkey

Oct 29 marks the 83rd anniversary of the foundation of the Turkish Republic. Turkey is a democratic, secular and constitutional republic. Modern Turkey's political system was established in 1923 after the fall of the Ottoman Empire under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Turkey is a founding member of the United Nations, the OIC, the OECD and the OSCE, a member state of the Council of Europe since 1949 and of the NATO since 1952.
